What is a transcript?

A transcript (Leistungsausweis, Leistungsüberblick, Datenabschrift, Academic Record, Relevé des résultats, Bulletin de notes, Studienblatt, Historique des examsens, Risultati degli esami) is an official data transcript which shows/certifies the previous study and examination achievements with the assessments made, indicates the study programme and the study level, and explains the grading system used. In addition, a GPA (grade point average) may be shown for the individual semesters or for the entire degree programme.

What is a certified copy?

A certified copy is a copy of the original document with an endorsement (stamp and signature of the official in the original) confirming that the copy corresponds to the original and that nothing has been changed. Only a stamp with the words "certified copy" or similar text is not sufficient. Standards for certified copies

A certified copy can be made by the following offices:

• of the exhibiting university/college/school

• a Swiss notary's office, an embassy or consular representation

• a diplomatic or consular representation of Switzerland

• Official offices in Switzerland which are authorised to provide documents with the Hague Apostille

• Official person authorised to certify copies in Switzerland (e.g. notary)

Furthermore:

• Certified copies must contain a certification note stating that the copy corresponds to the original.

• Copies of all pages of the original document are included, in particular also copies of the text/stamp on the back.

• The confirmation for certified copies shall be made by one of the above-mentioned offices. The function and address must be clearly visible. There is an official seal, office stamp or letterhead of the person certifying the copy (e.g. official seal and signature). All details on the official seal and signature must be clearly legible.
